Playing Dress-up

I’ll be trying different themes (messing with the appearance) for a while here to try to fit what I like to do with photos, etc. This one is a little too narrow, as it’s designed to render on screens set for as little as 800 x 600 resolution. I’d like to go 1000 - 1200 wide. In order to tweak this one to do that, I’d have to find a bunch of parameters in a bunch of files, and each change risks making the whole thing look like a Cubist’s nightmare. I’d rather find one of the canned themes that comes close. So, if you’re an early adopter and have this site in your RSS crosshairs already, you may see a lotta shakin’ goin’ on.

Feel free to comment on the look - I’d appreciate the feedback.

I love this picture…I think it looks nice since it fits with the word space. Although you may be tired of it and want to try something new which is also good. Change is good.

  2. Phil,

You’ve done it! My meager attempt to simply refresh the colors of my blog now pale in comparison. I’ll have to check out Wordpress…I wonder if I can import my blog…lock, stock & barrell… Good job!

  3. Phil:

Thanks, Liz. I need to fool with the proportions on the header to display the top of the space needle, but it’s a wonder I got this far.

And, John, I think I just got lucky. Helped me to know some SQL, though, in propagating some category info.

  4. I like this, Phil. It looks good. I understand wanting to change the layout a bit, but it does
look fine, as is. Our move to Beta blogger would have been much smoother if our blog roll had traveled along for the ride, but it did not.

  5. Chris (in VA):

I’ll follow you anywhere you want to go — and this looks like a grand space.
I’m sorry I didn’t offer my condolences in your recent period of grief. I read it. I paused to pray for you. But couldn’t find the right words. Glad to see you are recovering.
By the way, my brother and family moved to Columbus in the last year and cannot believe what it’s like to live in a real football town. (They used to live outside Rochester, NY). I think they even got invited to watch the Michigan game in the John Glenn room.

Robin, my blogroll, paltry as it was, needed some pruning, so I was fine with re-creating it. Odd that the Beta Blogger move wasn’t smoother.

Hi, Chris! I don’t think everyone not previously hooked on the OSU Kool-Aid is thrilled about its pervasiveness when they get marooned in Columbus. There’s a professional, urban culture there now that has no stake in the Buckeyes. Sounds like the Borg got to your brother first, though.
